Is Palmetto a good choice?
Palmetto fits homeowners who want a no-upfront-cost subscription: under its LightReach energy plan Palmetto owns and maintains the panels for 25 years and you pay monthly. It also offers cash and loans. Its buy-solar page says its advisors connect you with “trusted local pros” for the install, and its May 2024 announcement says it moved its own installations to its subsidiary PlugPV and shares other jobs with certified partner installers. Ask which company will be on your roof. Note that California’s registry showed a pending disciplinary action on its license in September 2026.

You can pay monthly with nothing upfrontWith its LightReach plan, Palmetto owns the panels and you pay each month for 25 years. Palmetto watches and fixes the system for you. It says you can buy the system out in year 5.
It lists warranties on its work and roof leaksPalmetto lists 10 years on its own work and 5 years for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Semper lists neither, and we could not confirm Momentum’s.
It does heating and cooling tooPalmetto also offers batteries and home heating and cooling (HVAC). Of the three alternatives below, only Semper Solaris also offers HVAC.
It covers many statesPalmetto lists licenses in more than 25 states. It does not publish a full list, so enter your address on its site to see if it serves you.

Its license record has problemsCalifornia’s registry showed a pending disciplinary action on its license in September 2026. One Florida license was void, and its Virginia license was inactive or expired. Ask about the license in your state.
Check which warranty you really getOne of its paid service plans for buyers includes no warranty on equipment, work, roof or batteries. It lists no battery warranty. Ask which warranty comes with your plan, in writing.
Some owners waited for repairsIts negative reviews describe panels that failed within three months with no repair visit, and bills higher than owners were told. Ask who sends a technician when the system stops making power.

How much does Palmetto cost?
Palmetto does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed; its online calculator asks for your address and last energy bill. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and, for a loan, the APR, fees and financed total; its buy-solar page says cash purchases carry a processing fee and loans may include financing fees. For the LightReach plan, ask for the monthly payment, any yearly increase and the buyout terms. Palmetto does not name a panel brand on the pages we read. Its Palmetto Protect page refers to Enphase and SolarEdge inverters, and its energy plan page lists “premium solar panels” and a “high-efficiency inverter” without models. It also offers batteries and HVAC. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the installing company, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

The LightReach energy plan includes 25 years of maintenance and monitoring because Palmetto owns the system; for a purchase, extra service coverage is sold separately as Palmetto Protect. Its Palmetto Protect Essentials terms say that plan includes no warranty for equipment, workmanship, roof or batteries, so check which Protect plan, if any, your purchase includes.
Where does Palmetto operate, and which licenses were checked?
Palmetto does not publish a list of the states it serves; its buy-solar page says “we cover a lot of the country, but not all of it” and asks for your address. The same page offers local solar guides for 27 states, and its license page lists licenses in more than 25 states (read October 13, 2026). We list the 15 states from our earlier profile, all of which appear in its guides. A listed state does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Palmetto there.
