Trinity Solar is worth comparing if you need solar and roof work from one provider. It began installing solar in 2004 and now advertises service in nine states. Customer scores vary substantially by platform; compare recent service feedback and the warranty for your payment plan before choosing it.

Reasons to choose Trinity

  • It does your roof tooTrinity puts in solar, batteries and new roofs. Of the three alternatives below, only EMT also does roofing.

  • It lists its warranty termsIf you pay upfront, Trinity covers its own work for 10 years and leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof for 5. EMT lists 5 years on its work. Venture leaves its term to your contract.

  • It has put in solar since 2004Trinity began putting in solar in 2004. It now lists nine states and has offices in six of them.

  • You get one contact from start to finishTrinity says each customer gets one contact person, from the first call to the final inspection.

Reasons to look at others

  • Its warranty terms are for upfront buyersIts published terms are for systems you pay for upfront. If you take a loan, rent the panels, or take a PPA (you pay for the power; the company owns the panels), ask for your terms in writing.

  • It names no equipment brandsTrinity names no panel or inverter brands. Venture names Enphase and Tesla. Ask for the exact models in your written quote.

  • It has no company license in New YorkWe found Trinity’s licenses active in eight states. It has no company license in New York. If you live there, ask who holds the license for your job.

  • Some owners waited to get turned onIts negative reviews describe an unpaid sign-up bonus, two systems waiting to be turned on by the power company, and a contract that differed from the sales pitch. Read the contract closely before you sign.

The five positive reviews below praise knowledgeable, patient sales and support staff. The five negative reviews describe a promised sign-up bonus that was not paid, two systems still waiting to be switched on, a contract that differed from the sales pitch and building materials left on site. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask your local office who handles activation and warranty service.

Trinity sells solar panels, inverters, home batteries and roofing, but does not name panel or inverter brands on the pages we read. Your written proposal should list the exact models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Trinity says each customer gets a Project Concierge from first call to final inspection (company history).
