About EcoGen America
North Carolina Solar Has a Countdown Clock.
Duke Energy’s transition from net metering runs through two doors. Door one, open until January 1, 2027: the Net Metering Bridge Rate, which preserves familiar netting and is legally guaranteed for 15 years from the date your interconnection is approved.
Door two, mandatory afterward: Residential Solar Choice, which pairs solar with a time-of-use rate schedule and additional fees, shifting value around the day in ways that punish unexamined assumptions.
Under both doors, monthly surplus settles at the avoided-cost NEEC rate, so oversizing never pays here. What the deadline changes is the value of everything before the surplus.
EcoGen America tracks the queue timing, models both doors honestly, and matches you with installers who can actually hit the window.
