Is Renu Energy Solutions a good choice?

Renu Energy Solutions fits North and South Carolina homeowners who want solar with battery backup and a wide choice of payment plans. It says it has operated since 2010, uses in-house employee installers and publishes its NC and SC general and electrical contractor licenses. It offers cash, loans, a LightReach lease and a prepaid agreement. It publishes no warranty terms, so get the panel, inverter and workmanship terms in writing.

Why choose Renu Energy Solutions, and why you might not

What Renu does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Renu

  • It names its equipment brandsRenu names CertainTeed, Hyundai, Silfab and Tesla panels, and Tesla, SolarEdge, FranklinWH and Generac batteries. Its battery pages list each maker’s warranty, 10 to 15 years. You can look them up before a sales visit.

  • You have four ways to payYou can pay upfront, take a loan of 10 to 25 years, rent the panels, or pay once with a prepaid plan. Of the three alternatives below, 8MSolar also has a prepaid plan, and Creative Solar takes cash only.

  • We found active licenses in both statesRenu prints its North and South Carolina contractor and electrician licenses. We found active licenses in both states when we checked on October 13, 2026.

  • It also puts in standby generatorsRenu installs Generac standby generators as well as solar and batteries. It says its installers work for Renu. It has offices in Charlotte, Asheville, Cary and Columbia.

Reasons to look at others

  • It lists no warranty on its own workRenu publishes no warranty on its own work, on the panels, or for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Palmetto lists 10 years on its work. Get every warranty from Renu in writing.

  • The prepaid plan leaves ownership unclearIts prepaid plan comes from Participate Energy, and its rent plan from LightReach. Renu’s site does not say who owns the panels under the prepaid plan. Ask before you sign.

  • Some owners say problems went unfixedIts negative reviews describe a system making less power than promised that was not fixed, and calls about a bill promise that went unanswered. Ask how its power output promise works, in writing.

  • Plan now if you want a battery laterOne negative review says the system design made adding a battery hard. Another says Renu would not install equipment the owner bought. If you may want a battery later, say so before the design is final.

Renu Energy Solutions reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

  • Google4.6 / 5610 reviews · Charlotte, NC office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise informed project managers and help with permits, utility and HOA approvals, and one reports a lower payment after material costs fell. The five negative reviews describe an underproducing system the reviewer says went unfixed, unreturned calls about a bill guarantee, a failed inspection over missing battery bumpers, a design that made adding a battery hard and refusal to install customer-bought equipment. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask how Renu’s production guarantee works.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Apr 2, 2024). We found no Trustpilot page for Renu Energy Solutions on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.
