Is Solar Holler a good choice?

Solar Holler fits homeowners in West Virginia and nearby parts of Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio who want to choose between owning and leasing. Its lease lets you buy the system from year 6, and it says union electricians install every system. Its support FAQ lists a 5-year roof penetration warranty but no workmanship term, so ask for that in writing.

Why choose Solar Holler, and why you might not

What Solar Holler does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Solar Holler

  • It names its US-made panelsSolar Holler says it puts in JA, Qcells and Silfab panels, all made in the US, with Enphase inverters and the Enphase 5P battery. Of the three alternatives below, only SES also names its panels.

  • You can rent and buy laterYou can rent the panels for a set monthly fee, and Solar Holler looks after them. From year 6 you can buy the system. ARP and Mountain View list no way to rent.

  • Union electricians do every installSolar Holler says union electricians put in every system. It says it is a member of the electricians’ union, the IBEW.

  • It pays you if power falls shortFor the first 3 years, Solar Holler promises how much power your system makes each year. If it makes less, it pays you back. It also covers leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof for 5 years.

Reasons to look at others

  • It gives no length for its work warrantySolar Holler says it has a warranty on its own work but gives no length. ARP lists 15 years, and its guarantee names roof leaks. Ask Solar Holler for its term in writing.

  • It prints no license numbersSolar Holler says it is a licensed electrical company in each state it serves. It prints no license numbers. Ask for the number in your state and check it before you sign.

  • Some reviews describe leaks and slow repairsIts negative reviews describe a porch leak under the panels no one could explain, and a repair that waited nearly four years. Ask how it handles leak claims and how long repairs take.

  • Check the loan and rent termsIts rent plan is not offered in Kentucky. One review says loan interest still built up during a no-payment period. Ask for the full loan terms, and the lenders it uses, in writing.

The five positive reviews below praise knowledgeable, courteous crews, on-schedule installs, responsive communication and competitive pricing. The five negative reviews describe a secondhand account of an unhappy customer, a porch leak under the panels that a technician could not explain, a repair reportedly waiting nearly four years, a pushy sales call, and a no-payment period during which loan interest still built up. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Solar Holler how it handles roof leak claims and how long repairs take.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (131 reviews read, back to Jan 13, 2021). We found no Trustpilot page for Solar Holler on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Solar Holler cost?

Solar Holler does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed; its lease page quotes a per-kilowatt-hour lease rate for some utility areas and says lease pricing changes on a set date. Ask for an itemized quote with the cash price, system size, equipment models and forecast production, and, for a lease, the monthly payment, term and buyout terms. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

How we researched this profile

We read Solar Holler’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, solar at home, solar lease, purchase, cost of solar, technology, our story, our difference, service areas and customer support FAQ. On October 14, 2026 we read its sitemap, full FAQ and dated blog posts on its history, its Google Business listing and an OpenCorporates summary of its West Virginia business record.
