Solar Energy Solutions Review

Solar and battery installerBased in Lexington, KentuckyProfile updated October 14, 2026

Is Solar Energy Solutions a good choice?

Solar Energy Solutions fits homeowners in Kentucky and nearby states who want an installer that does design, electrical work and service in-house. It says it was founded in Kentucky in 2006, and its certifications page says its installers are NABCEP certified and that it does not subcontract. Its financing page lists loans and two leases. It publishes no workmanship term, so get that in writing.

Why choose Solar Energy Solutions, and why you might not

What SES does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose SES

  • It names many equipment brandsSES names Tesla, Qcells and Silfab panels, and Tesla and FranklinWH batteries. It also names its inverters, the boxes that turn solar power into home power. Palmetto names no panel brand.

  • Its own staff do the workSES says it does not use subcontractors. It says a licensed electrician is on every job, and it does design, wiring and service itself.

  • It has a prepaid planYou can pay once upfront and make no monthly payments for five years while SES looks after the system. Then you can buy it. Ask if this plan is offered in your state.

  • Owners praise on-time crewsIts head-office Google listing shows 4.8 from 73 reviews. Owners praise on-time crews and clear answers from sales.

Reasons to look at others

  • No set warranty on its own workSES says it backs its work with a parts and labor warranty but gives no length. Palmetto lists 10 years. Get the SES term in writing before you sign.

  • No set warranty for roof leaksSES lists no warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Solar Holler and Palmetto each list 5 years. Ask who fixes a leak there, and for how long.

  • Some licenses are not confirmedIts Kentucky license is held by one person, not the company. We could not confirm its licenses in Indiana, Illinois, Virginia or Tennessee. Ask for the license number in your state.

  • One owner got no reply during an outageIts one negative review describes a battery repair request that was never returned while the owner had no power for six days. Ask how fast it answers outage calls.

Solar Energy Solutions reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

  • Google4.8 / 573 reviews · Lexington, KY office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise punctual, professional crews, clear answers from sales, and one crew that reinstalled and reconnected panels removed during a home remodel. The one negative review describes a request for battery work that was never returned while the reviewer was without power for six days. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Solar Energy Solutions how quickly it returns calls about battery work and outages.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (73 reviews read, back to Feb 21, 2016). We found no Trustpilot page for Solar Energy Solutions on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Solar Energy Solutions cost?

Solar Energy Solutions does not publish a system price on its residential solar page or financing page. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and, for a loan or lease, the lender or lessor, rate, fees and total payments. Its residential technology page still cites a federal tax credit for home customers; the federal 25D credit ended for home systems placed in service after December 31, 2025, so confirm any incentive with a tax professional. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

HELOC

You own it

Through your own bank or lender; the company says it is one of the most straightforward ways to pay.

Solar loan through Clean Energy Credit Union

You own it

The company says this lender offers fixed rates, terms up to 20 years and no prepayment penalty. Ask for the rate, term and fees in writing.

Prepaid lease

Solar Energy Solutions owns it until you buy it

One upfront payment, with no monthly payments for five years while SES maintains and monitors the system; you can then buy it for fair market value or $1,000, whichever is greater. Its financing page says it is offered in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky; its residential page says Indiana and Kentucky Power customers. Its prepaid lease page says SES owns the system during the lease.

Palmetto LightReach lease ($0 down)

Palmetto owns it

Fixed monthly payment over 25 years, with Palmetto handling repairs and monitoring; you may buy at fair market value after year five. Its pages name Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia, and its residential page adds Illinois.

Plans as listed on Solar Energy Solutions’ residential financing page, residential solar page and prepaid lease page, read October 14, 2026. An older financing page that is still online names Credit Human as its loan partner instead.

Its residential products page names Tesla, Qcells, Silfab and NE Solar panels, SolarEdge, Enphase and Tesla inverters, and Tesla Powerwall 3 and FranklinWH aPower S and aPower 2 batteries. An older solar panels page also names Panasonic and says it has long been a SunPower dealer. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Terms from Solar Energy Solutions’ residential solar page, residential products page, battery page and solar panels page, read October 14, 2026. It has no warranty page we could find. Your signed agreement decides what applies.

Its values page says that if it makes a mistake, it will correct it to your satisfaction, with no term or scope. We do not count that as workmanship coverage.

Where does Solar Energy Solutions operate, and which licenses were checked?

Solar Energy Solutions’ locations page (read October 14, 2026) says its residential crews install and service systems in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia, and that commercial teams travel across the Midwest, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Its contact page lists offices in Lexington and Louisville, KY; Indianapolis, IN; Cincinnati, OH; and Ashland, VA. Its financing page also offers a lease in West Virginia. A listed state does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Solar Energy Solutions there.

Licenses

We found 2 active license records in state registries (October 13, 2026). Indiana licenses this work through individuals or local permits, not a company license; ask for the license holder’s number. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.
