Epex Home Performance Review

Solar, battery and roofing installerFormerly Solar Works EnergyBased in Albuquerque, New MexicoProfile updated October 15, 2026

Is Epex Home Performance a good choice?

Epex Home Performance, formerly Solar Works Energy, fits New Mexico homeowners who want solar, batteries and a new roof from one company. Its rename page says Solar Works Energy took the Epex name in 2025, that the legal company, Solar Works Energy LLC, is unchanged, and that it was founded in Albuquerque in 2015. Its solar page lists cash, loan, lease and PPA options and a 25-year performance guarantee. It publishes no license number and no written workmanship term, so ask for both, and for who owns a lease or PPA system, before you sign.

Why choose Epex Home Performance, and why you might not

What Epex does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Epex

  • It does your roof tooEpex puts in solar, batteries and roofing. It says it earned GAF Master Elite roofing status in 2023. Of the three alternatives below, only Photon Brothers also does roofing.

  • It names its equipmentEpex names REC, Silfab and Q Cells panels and Enphase microinverters, the small boxes that turn solar power into home power. It names Tesla, Enphase and FranklinWH batteries.

  • It has four ways to payIt lists buying, a loan with no money down, renting the panels, and a PPA (you pay for the power; a company owns the panels). Sol Luna lists only buying and a loan.

Reasons to look at others

  • Its warranty on its own work is unclearAn older page promised a full 25-year guarantee. Its new site names a warranty on its own work but gives no length. Positive Energy lists 30 years. Get the term in writing.

  • No set warranty for roof leaksEpex lists no warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Ask who fixes a leak there, who pays, and for how long.

  • It shows no license numberEpex prints no license number for New Mexico or Colorado. Ask for each number and check it with the state. If you live in Colorado, ask if it still puts in home solar there.

  • Its name changed, and its partners are unnamedIt traded as Solar Works Energy until 2025, so older paperwork and its older website use that name. It does not name its lender, or who owns the panels if you rent or take a PPA. Ask who you will pay, and who owns the panels.

Epex Home Performance reviews: what customers say

We found no Google or Trustpilot reviews for Epex Home Performance when we checked in October 2026. Ask the company for references from recent customers in your area.

How much does Epex Home Performance cost?

Epex Home Performance does not publish a price for a specific system; its solar page gives only a broad range before incentives. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and, for a loan, lease or PPA, the lender or owner, rate, escalator and total payments. Its older solarworksenergy.com pages still count a 30% federal credit; its newer solar page says that credit ended for owned home systems after December 31, 2025, so ask for an estimate without it. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Cash purchase

You own it

Listed on its solar page; you own the system and its output.

Solar loan

You own it

Listed as a $0-down loan with 10- to 25-year terms, subject to credit approval. The lender is not named.

Solar lease

Ask who owns it

Listed as a fixed monthly payment with no upfront cost. Its solar page says leases and PPAs use the commercial credit, which suggests a company owns the system; ask who.

PPA

Ask who owns it

Listed as paying only for the power the system makes, with no equipment cost. Ask who owns the system, the rate and any escalator.

Plans as listed on Epex Home Performance’s solar installation page, read October 14, 2026. No lender or lessor is named.

Its solar page says it uses tier-1 panels from makers such as REC, Silfab and Q Cells, paired with Enphase microinverters. Its battery page names Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ and FranklinWH batteries, and its older site says it is a certified Tesla Solar Roof installer. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Company-published terms from its solar page and battery page (read October 14, 2026) and its older process page (read October 13, 2026). Its rename page says warranties issued as Solar Works Energy are still honored. Your signed agreement decides what applies.

Its roofing page describes roofing warranties without terms. The Tesla Solar Roof page cites Tesla’s 25-year warranty. Neither is a rooftop solar workmanship term.

Where does Epex Home Performance operate, and which licenses were checked?

Epex Home Performance’s service areas page lists Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Corrales, Los Lunas and Las Cruces, New Mexico, and says it has a local office in Las Cruces (read October 14, 2026). Its older Solar Works contact page also lists a Colorado office in Denver, and its Colorado page addresses homeowners there; the new site does not mention Colorado. A listed area does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with the company there.

Licenses

We have not checked Epex’s licenses in a state registry yet, and its website does not list license numbers we could match. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

How we researched this profile

We read the company’s older Solar Works Energy pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, why Solar Works, contact, New Mexico coverage, cost of solar FAQ, process, panel types, customer experience team, roofing and its Tesla Solar Roof page. On October 14, 2026 we read its Colorado and Texas coverage pages and its Epex Home Performance pages (rename notice, about, solar, battery, service areas and terms), and checked its claimed Google listing. We did not check its licenses in a state registry. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. On October 15, 2026 we renamed this profile from Solar Works Energy to Epex Home Performance. The company did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
