Solar Technologies Review
Residential and commercial solar and battery installerBased in San Ramon, CaliforniaProfile updated October 14, 2026
Is Solar Technologies a good choice?
Solar Technologies fits Bay Area homeowners who want a long-running local installer that does its work in-house. It says it was founded in 1998 and holds California C-10 and C-46 licenses, which it prints on its site. It lists cash, loan and lease plans, each with a “25 Year System Warranty,” but does not define what that warranty covers. Its pages still describe it as a SunPower dealer, so ask which panel brand you will get.

Why choose Solar Technologies, and why you might not
What Solar Technologies does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.
Reasons to choose Solar Technologies
It has worked since 1998Solar Technologies says it was founded in 1998 and does all install work with its own staff. It lists offices in San Ramon, Santa Cruz, San Jose and San Diego.
It names its equipment brandsSolar Technologies names REC Alpha panels, the Tesla Powerwall 3 and the Enphase IQ Battery 5P. Baker and Luminalt name no panel brand. You can look up the equipment before a sales visit.
You can buy, borrow or rentIt lists buying, a loan with no upfront cost, and renting the panels. Its rent plan includes care and repairs. Luminalt lists only buying and a loan.
Owners praise its service visitsIts head-office Google listing shows 4.6 from 77 reviews. Good reviews praise an on-time technician, inverter replacements and reports with photos.
Reasons to look at others
Its 25-year warranty is not explainedEvery plan lists a “25 Year System Warranty”, but the company does not say what it covers or who backs it. It lists no warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Ask for the full terms in writing.
Ask which panels you will getSome of its pages still call it a SunPower dealer and mention Maxeon panels. Its products page names REC. Ask for the exact panel brand and model in your written quote.
It does not name its lenderSolar Technologies does not name the lender for its loan or the company behind its rent plan. Ask who you will pay, and who owns the panels if you rent.
Some reviews describe long waits for fixesIts negative reviews describe broken panels left for months, a 40-day inverter repair, and a permit mistake that kept one system off for a year. Ask who honors your warranty and how fast.

The five positive reviews below praise a punctual, helpful technician, inverter replacements, reports with photos, and quick rescheduling around a roof replacement. The five negative reviews describe a reinstall left without a working system or permit, an acquired installer’s warranty not honored with broken panels unrepaired for months, a 40-day micro-inverter repair, a permit error that kept one system off for a year, and an undersized system. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Solar Technologies who honors your warranty.
