Why choose Baker Electric Home Energy, and why you might not
What Baker does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.
Reasons to choose Baker
It does your roof, heating and cooling tooBaker puts in solar and batteries, and it also does roofing and heating and cooling. Of the three alternatives below, all do roofing, and only Semper also does heating and cooling.
Its own employees do the installBaker’s solar page says its own employees install your system. Its history goes back to 1938, and it has done home solar since 2007.
It fixes systems others put inBaker repairs solar systems, including ones other companies installed. That helps if your first installer has closed.
Many owners have reviewed it on GoogleIts head-office Google listing shows 4.8 from 3,114 reviews. That is more reviews than any other company in the table below.
Reasons to look at others
It lists no warranty on its own workBaker publishes no warranty on its own work, on the panels or inverter, or for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Solar Optimum and Green Convergence list 25 years. Get every warranty in writing.
Its no-upfront plan leaves ownership unclearWith its Home Energy Program, you pay nothing upfront and a monthly fee. Baker says it looks after the panels. Its page does not say who owns them, or who lends for its loans. Ask before you sign.
It names no panel brandsBaker names Tesla, Enphase and sonnen batteries, but no panel or inverter brands. Ask for the exact models in your written quote.
Some owners waited weeks for serviceIts negative reviews describe three calls about faulty panels left unanswered for three weeks. Another owner waited almost two weeks about an inverter. Ask who takes service calls on solar systems.

The five positive reviews below praise professional, efficient technicians on heating and cooling, and one notes Baker installed that owner’s solar four years earlier. The five negative reviews describe three unreturned calls over three weeks about faulty panels, an inverter request unanswered for nearly two weeks, a thermostat job reported as unfinished, a high EV charger quote and a confusing finance call. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Baker who handles service calls on existing solar systems.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Jul 14, 2026). We found no Trustpilot page for Baker Electric Home Energy on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.
How much does Baker Electric Home Energy cost?
Baker does not publish a solar system price on the pages we reviewed; it says it gives an itemized, no-obligation quote. Ask that the quote show the cash price, system size, equipment models and, if you finance, the financed total with APR and fees. Its homepage runs time-limited offers; ask whether any offer changes the price or terms. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.
Cash purchase
You own itYou pay the full price and own the system.
Solar loan
You own itA loan from Baker’s preferred financing partners, or your own financing such as a HELOC. Baker says its solar loans have no prepayment penalty and some can transfer if you move.
Baker Home Energy Program
Ask who owns itNo upfront cost and a monthly fee based on the energy the system is expected to produce; Baker says it maintains the panels and batteries. The page compares it to a lease but does not say who owns the system.
Plans as listed on Baker’s solar and battery financing page, read October 13, 2026.
Baker’s solar page does not name panel or inverter brands. Its battery options page describes Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ and sonnen batteries. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Baker also offers solar service and repair, including on systems other companies installed.

Inverter | Not published | Confirm in your proposal: the inverter model, its maker’s term and who pays labor to replace it. |
Battery | Maker’s warranty; its battery page cites a 10-year, 10,000-cycle warranty for sonnen batteries | Which battery you get and the maker’s term for that model. |

Baker has no solar warranty page. We read its solar page and battery options page on October 13, 2026. Your signed agreement decides what applies.
Baker’s solar page promises “extended warranties where applicable” without terms, so we do not count it as workmanship coverage.
Where does Baker Electric Home Energy operate, and which licenses were checked?
Baker’s solar service area page lists cities in San Diego, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties (read October 13, 2026). Its solar page says it installs throughout San Diego County and in select communities in the other three. A listed city does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Baker there.
