Northwest Electric & Solar Review

Solar, battery, EV charging and electrical contractorBased in Kenmore, WashingtonProfile updated October 14, 2026

Is Northwest Electric & Solar a good choice?

Northwest Electric & Solar fits Washington homeowners who want an electrical contractor to install solar, Tesla Powerwall batteries, smart panels or EV chargers. It says it was founded in 2011, and its warranty page gives a 25-year workmanship warranty plus 2 years of equipment labor. That labor coverage is short, so ask who pays labor for inverter or battery swaps after year two.

Why choose Northwest Electric & Solar, and why you might not

What Northwest Electric & Solar (NWES) does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose NWES

  • It covers its own work for 25 yearsNWES lists a 25-year warranty on its own work. A&R lists 10 years. Puget Sound Solar lists 25 years in one place and 10 in another.

  • It names its equipment brandsNWES names REC, Qcells and Solaria panels, SolarEdge inverters and Tesla Powerwall batteries. A&R names only its battery brands. You can look up the equipment before a sales visit.

  • It is an electrician tooNWES is an electrical contractor. It also puts in smart electrical panels, EV chargers and the Tesla Solar Roof. Its Washington license was active when we checked on October 13, 2026.

  • Owners praise neat, careful crewsIts head-office Google listing shows 4.9 from 330 reviews. Owners praise professional crews, project managers who answer, and neat wiring.

Reasons to look at others

  • Paid labor on equipment lasts 2 yearsNWES pays the labor to fix or swap failed equipment for only 2 years. A&R also lists 2 years. Ask who pays the labor if an inverter or battery fails in year three.

  • No set warranty for roof leaksNWES lists no separate warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Neither alternative below lists one. Ask who fixes a leak there, who pays, and for how long.

  • With the prepaid plan, it owns the panelsIts prepaid plan is a 25-year rental you pay upfront in stages. NWES owns the panels. It says you may buy them from year 6 at market value. Ask how that price is set.

  • Some owners paid early and then waitedIts negative reviews describe a faulty inverter that delayed one system six weeks after most of the price was paid. Others describe missed calls and a slow repair. Ask how payments are timed.

Northwest Electric & Solar reviews: what customers say

  • Google4.9 / 5330 reviews · Kenmore, WA office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise professional crews, responsive project managers and neat wiring on battery, solar and EV charger installs. The five negative reviews describe missed scheduled calls, slow quotes, a faulty inverter that delayed one system by six weeks after most of the price was paid upfront, a month-long unresolved repair with little contact, and repeated paperwork requests years after install. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Northwest how payments are timed and who updates you when equipment fails.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Dec 19, 2023). We found no Trustpilot page for Northwest Electric & Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Northwest Electric & Solar cost?

Northwest Electric & Solar does not publish a system price on its solar page. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and any electrical service upgrade. Its warranty page says quoted prices may exclude insurance, utility fees, permits and inspection fees unless noted, so ask that the quote include them. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Purchase

You own it

You pay for the system directly. Its incentives page notes Washington’s sales tax exemption for purchased systems of 1 to 100 kW.

Solar loan (Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union)

You own it

The company recommends applying with PSCCU for a loan. The credit union sets the terms.

Energy Service Agreement (prepaid lease)

Participate Energy owns it

A 25-year prepaid lease for Washington homeowners. You pay up front in milestone payments; the company says you may buy the system at fair market value from year 6, and NWES handles workmanship and warranty service.

Plans as described on Northwest Electric & Solar’s solar page FAQ and solar incentives page, read October 13, 2026, and its Energy Service Agreement page, read October 14, 2026. No PPA is listed.

Its warranty page lists equipment it installs: REC Alpha, Qcells Q.Tron and Q.Peak and Solaria panels, SolarEdge inverters and power optimizers, and Tesla Powerwall batteries. It also installs Tesla Solar Roof, SPAN smart panels, EV chargers and fuel cells (services page). Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Northwest Electric & Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

Northwest Electric & Solar’s service area page says it serves all of Washington State for solar and batteries, including the Olympic Peninsula, San Juan Islands and Eastern Washington. Its contact page limits EV charger and electrical work to Snohomish, King (Eastside), Kitsap, Pierce and Skagit counties and nearby cities (both read October 13, 2026). A listed area does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with the company there.

Licenses

We found 1 active license record in state registries (October 13, 2026). Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

Its about page says Solar Power World ranked it the top solar and energy storage contractor in Washington in back-to-back years, and that its owner is a master electrician. Its warranty page shows Tesla Wall Connector approved electrician and ChargePoint certified installer references. These are company statements; we did not verify them.

How we researched this profile

We read Northwest Electric & Solar’s own pages at nwsolar.com on October 13, 2026: homepage, about, contact, service area, solar, warranties, solar incentives, services and FAQ. The domain in our older profile, nwelectricandsolar.com, now shows an unrelated Chinese-language site, so we did not use it. We did not check its license in a state registry. On October 14, 2026 we also read its Energy Service Agreement page. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. Northwest Electric & Solar did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
