A&R Solar Review

Solar and battery installerBased in Seattle, WashingtonProfile updated October 14, 2026

Is A&R Solar a good choice?

A&R Solar fits Washington and Oregon homeowners who want a local, employee-owned installer that also services systems it did not install. It says it has installed solar since 2007 and publishes a 10-year workmanship warranty with a production guarantee. Its paid labor for replacing failed equipment lasts only 2 years, and it publishes no panel, inverter or battery terms. Get those in writing.

Why choose A&R Solar, and why you might not

What A&R does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose A&R

  • It works in both Washington and OregonA&R has offices in Seattle and Tualatin, Oregon. Each of the three alternatives below works in only one of those two states.

  • It pays you if the system makes lessA&R promises how much power your system will make for 10 years. If it makes less, it says it pays back 110% of the shortfall. Of the three alternatives below, only Puget Sound Solar lists a similar promise.

  • Its own staff do the workA&R says it is owned by its employees and that its own crews put in systems, not hired outside crews. It also says it services systems it did not put in.

  • It names the batteries it puts inA&R names Tesla Powerwall and Franklin home batteries. It says Tesla has certified it to install the Powerwall.

Reasons to look at others

  • Its warranty on its own work is shorterA&R covers its own work for 10 years. Labor to replace a failed part is covered for only 2 years. NWES and Puget Sound Solar list 25 years on their own work. Ask who pays for labor after year two.

  • It lists no panel or inverter warrantyA&R publishes no warranty on the panels, the inverter or the batteries. It names no panel or inverter brand. Ask for the exact models and each warranty in writing.

  • Its loan and lease terms are not listedA&R says loans come from local credit unions it does not name. It lists a prepaid lease with no terms. Ask who owns the panels and who handles repairs.

  • Some reviews describe a smaller systemIts negative reviews describe a battery that drops power in outages, calls with no answer, and a system made smaller after a large payment. Ask if your contract fixes the system size and price before you pay.

  • Google4.8 / 5142 reviews · Seattle, WA office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise friendly, careful installers, a designer who knew local rules, and clear explanations after installation. The five negative reviews describe a battery backup that reportedly drops power during outages, unanswered calls and emails, a system shrunk after a large payment, a rude driver and a site visit refused based on satellite images. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask A&R whether the contract fixes system size and price before you pay.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (142 reviews read, back to May 1, 2015). We found no Trustpilot page for A&R Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does A&R Solar cost?

A&R does not publish a fixed price for your system; its incentives and financing page says your proposal lays out system cost, incentives and estimated payback. Ask for an itemized quote with the cash price, system size, equipment models and, for a loan or lease, the full financed or prepaid total. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Purchase

You own it

You pay the full price. The company says its proposal compares cash with its other options.

Solar loan

You own it

Financing through local credit unions, per the company. The lenders and terms are not named.

Prepaid lease

Ask who owns it

Named on its financing page with no terms. Ask who owns the system and who handles repairs.

Plans as listed on A&R’s incentives and financing page, read October 13, 2026.

A&R names Tesla Powerwall and the Franklin whole-home battery on its residential page, and its service area page says it is a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer. It names no panel or inverter brand on the pages we read. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh). The company says its own crews install systems, not subcontractors.

Where does A&R Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

A&R’s service area page names offices in Seattle and Tualatin and lists Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Portland, Salem and Eugene (read October 13, 2026). Its Seattle office page adds Bellevue, Everett, Gig Harbor and the Puget Sound, and its residential page names King, Snohomish, Pierce and Kitsap counties and the Willamette Valley. A listed city does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with A&R there.

Licenses

We found 3 active license records in state registries (October 13, 2026). Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

A&R’s about page says it is employee-owned, a Certified B Corporation and Social Purpose Corporation, has NABCEP-certified staff, and is a Puget Sound Energy Recommended Energy Professional and an Energy Trust of Oregon Trade Ally. Its homepage lists NABCEP, AMICUS, WASEIA and OSEIA affiliations. These are company statements; we did not verify them.

How we researched this profile

We read A&R Solar’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, about, our promise, service area, Seattle and Tualatin office pages, residential solar, incentives and financing, FAQ and legal. On October 14, 2026 we also checked the Oregon Secretary of State business registry and A&R’s Google Business listing.
