Newport Solar Review
Solar, battery and EV charger installerBased in North Kingstown, Rhode IslandProfile updated October 13, 2026
Is Newport Solar a good choice?
Newport Solar fits Rhode Island homeowners who want a local installer that uses its own crews and spells out its warranties. Its guarantee page lists a 5-year parts, labor and workmanship warranty, a 2-year production guarantee and, for homes up to 25 kW, 30-year SolarInsure coverage that includes roof penetrations. It says it has installed solar since 2009. Read the SolarInsure terms, because that coverage is a third-party program, not Newport’s own.

Why choose Newport Solar, and why you might not
What Newport Solar does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.
Reasons to choose Newport Solar
It spells out its warrantiesNewport covers parts and its own work for 5 years. For most homes, a 30-year plan from SolarInsure, another company, also covers the work and leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Venture leaves its terms to your contract.
Its Google score is the highest hereIts head-office Google listing shows 5 from 111 reviews. That is the highest score in the table below. Owners praise tidy installs, text and email reminders, and help finding a state grant.
Its own crews do the workNewport says it uses its own crews and has put in solar since 2009. It works only in Rhode Island.
You can buy, borrow or take a PPAYou can pay upfront, take a loan from a partner such as a local bank, or take a PPA through LightReach (you pay for the power; LightReach owns the panels). Under the PPA, LightReach insures and looks after the system.
Reasons to look at others
Its own warranty is 5 yearsNewport itself covers its work for 5 years. Trinity lists 10 years if you pay upfront. The 30-year cover comes from SolarInsure, not Newport. Read what the SolarInsure plan leaves out before you sign.
The 30-year cover has limitsThe SolarInsure plan only covers home systems up to 25 kW (kilowatts, a measure of system size). Battery cover is an extra option. Ask if your system qualifies, and get it in writing.
It names no panel brandNewport’s service guides mention Enphase and Tesla systems, but it names no panel brand. Ask for the exact models in your written quote.
Its reviews do not show how it handles problemsWe found no negative reviews among those we read. That does not tell you how it handles problems. Ask who takes service calls after the install and how fast they respond.

The five positive reviews below praise quick, tidy installations, polite and skilled crews, clear communication with email and text reminders, and help finding a state grant. There were no negative reviews among those we read. Positive reviews alone do not show how a company handles problems. Ask Newport Solar who handles service calls after installation and how quickly it responds.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (111 reviews read, back to Dec 2, 2013). We found no Trustpilot page for Newport Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.
How much does Newport Solar cost?
Newport Solar does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed. Ask for an itemized quote with the cash price, system size, equipment models and forecast production; for a PPA, ask for the rate per kilowatt-hour and any yearly increase. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

LightReach owns itNo upfront cost; you buy the power at a fixed rate under a 25-year contract. Newport says LightReach insures and maintains the system and credits you if it underperforms.
Plans as listed on Newport Solar’s financing page, read October 13, 2026.
Newport Solar does not name its panel brand on the pages we read. Its service guides give support steps for Enphase and Tesla systems, and its guarantee page says manufacturer warranties cover panels, microinverters and batteries. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
What does Newport Solar’s warranty cover?

Company-published terms from Newport Solar’s guarantee page, read October 13, 2026. Your signed agreement decides what applies.
The 30-year coverage is a SolarInsure limited warranty that Newport includes on residential systems of 25 kW and under; above 25 kW it may be an optional add-on.
Where does Newport Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?
Newport Solar’s home solar page lists Newport, Providence, Kent, Washington and Bristol counties, and its contact page says it currently serves only Rhode Island (read October 13, 2026). A listed county does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Newport Solar there.
