Maximo Energy Review

Solar and battery installerBased in Aguadilla, Puerto RicoProfile updated October 13, 2026

Is Maximo Energy a good choice?

Maximo Energy, formerly Maximo Solar, fits Puerto Rico homeowners who want to compare a Sunrun lease with owning a system through a local bank or cooperative loan. Its plans page lists all three paths and who owns the system under each. Its site is in Spanish, says it has more than 15 years in solar, and offers paid maintenance plans. It publishes no workmanship warranty or license number, so ask for both.

Why choose Maximo Energy, and why you might not

What Maximo does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Maximo

  • You can rent or ownMaximo offers three ways to pay. You can rent from Sunrun, which owns and fixes the system. Or you can own it with a bank or co-op loan, or by paying in full. Its plans page says who owns the system under each.

  • It says it has done over 12,000 homesMaximo says it has more than 15 years in solar and has powered over 12,000 homes. Its homepage shows projects across the island. We did not check those numbers.

  • It has showrooms in Aguadilla and CarolinaMaximo lists showrooms on the west and north sides of the island. Ask if it works at your address.

  • It sells upkeep plansMaximo sells two paid upkeep plans, Max Care and Max Care Plus. They include cleaning and a yearly check. They are not a warranty, so ask what they cost and cover.

Reasons to look at others

  • No warranty on its own work if you ownThe Sunrun rental lists a 25-year warranty. If you buy or take a loan, Maximo lists no warranty on its own work. WindMar lists 10 years. Ask Maximo for its term in writing.

  • It names no equipment brandsMaximo names no panel, inverter or battery brands. ProSolar and WindMar name the batteries they use. Ask for the exact models and battery size in your quote.

  • It does not print its license numberMaximo prints no Puerto Rico contractor or electrical license number. Ask for the number and check it before you sign.

  • Some owners report slow serviceIts negative reviews describe slow or missing service, calls with no answer and sales visits that never happened. One owner says the system has had problems since the install. Ask who handles service calls and how fast.

Maximo Energy reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

The five positive reviews below praise knowledgeable, tidy crews, clear guidance and reliable systems, including a battery added to a 2016 install. Of the five negative reviews, four describe slow or missing service, unanswered calls, no-show sales visits and a system with problems since installation that is still not fully offsetting the bill; the fifth complains about company trucks parked illegally. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Maximo who handles service calls after installation and how quickly it returns them.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Sep 14, 2017). We found no Trustpilot page for Maximo Energy on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Maximo Energy cost?

Maximo does not publish a price for a custom system on the pages we reviewed; its offers page shows one time-limited package, subject to credit approval. Ask for an itemized quote with the cash price, system size, battery size and equipment models, and, for a lease, the monthly payment, term and any payment increases. For price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Sunrun lease

Sunrun owns it

Fixed monthly payments for a solar and battery system; Sunrun owns and maintains it. The page lists both fixed and stepped (escalating) payments, so ask which applies.

Bank or cooperative loan

You own it

Financing through Puerto Rico banks and cooperatives, with or without a down payment, for those who qualify.

Cash purchase

You own it

You pay the full system cost and own and maintain the system.

Plans as listed on Maximo’s plans and services page (in Spanish), read October 13, 2026.

Maximo does not name panel, inverter or battery brands on the pages we read. It offers solar with battery backup, and its offers page describes batteries for apartments. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW), the battery size in kilowatt-hours (kWh) and the forecast yearly production.

Where does Maximo Energy operate, and which licenses were checked?

Maximo’s contact page lists showrooms in Aguadilla and Carolina, and its about page says it serves customers through three locations: Aguadilla, Carolina and Ponce (read October 13, 2026). Its homepage shows projects across the island. A listed location does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Maximo there.

Licenses

We have not checked Maximo’s licenses in a state registry yet, and its website does not list license numbers we could match. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.
