WindMar Home Review

Solar, battery, roofing and water systems installerBased in San Juan, Puerto RicoProfile updated October 14, 2026

Is WindMar Home a good choice?

WindMar Home fits Puerto Rico homeowners who want solar with Tesla Powerwall backup from a large island company with many offices. WindMar says it was founded in 2002. Its solar page lists a PPA with a 25-year whole-system warranty, and a loan or cash purchase with a 10-year labor warranty. Compare those labor terms, and ask for its Puerto Rico license before you sign.

Why choose WindMar Home, and why you might not

What WindMar does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose WindMar

  • It puts in Tesla batteriesWindMar uses Tesla Powerwall batteries, so your home can keep power in an outage. It says it has put in more than 65,000 Tesla batteries.

  • Its PPA covers the whole system for 25 yearsWith a PPA, you pay for the power and the company owns the panels. WindMar’s PPA lists a 25-year warranty on the whole system, insurance and a power guarantee. Ask how the guarantee works.

  • It names its bankWindMar’s solar loans come through Oriental Bank and other lenders, over 10 to 25 years. You need to own your home. The lender sets the rate.

  • It also does roofs and water systemsWindMar seals roofs and puts in water systems. It says its panels are built for Category 5 hurricane winds. Of the three alternatives below, Solaria and ESD also do roofing.

Reasons to look at others

  • Its work warranty is 10 years if you buyIf you pay cash or take a loan, WindMar covers its own work for 10 years. Solaria offers 30 years through an outside warranty company. Ask what an extended warranty from WindMar costs and covers.

  • No set warranty for roof leaksWindMar lists no separate warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. One owner says a pipe left open after roof work leaked near the breakers. Ask who fixes leaks, and for how long.

  • It prints no license numberIts Florida license was active when we checked on October 13, 2026. It prints no Puerto Rico license, and its site does not say where in Florida it works. Ask for its Puerto Rico license.

  • Some owners waited on battery repairsIts negative reviews describe failed batteries with no answer, two missed install dates, and no callback for five days after an outage. Ask how fast it sends someone when a battery fails.

The five positive reviews below praise clean, well-organized installs, clear explanations and a crew that stayed to confirm the system worked. The five negative reviews describe unanswered requests about underproducing panels and failed batteries, two missed battery install dates, an outage with no callback after five days, a pipe left open after roof work that leaked near the breakers and reported property damage. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Windmar how quickly it sends a technician after a battery failure.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Sep 7, 2022). We found no Trustpilot page for WindMar Home on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does WindMar Home cost?

WindMar Home does not publish a full system price on its solar page; it shows only starting monthly or cash figures that it says may change without notice. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, number of panels and Powerwall batteries, and, for a PPA or loan, the full payment schedule, rate and term. For price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

PPA (WindMar Energy by Qcells)

WindMar Energy by Qcells owns it

You pay for the power over a 25-year agreement; the company lists insurance, a production guarantee, a 25-year whole-system warranty and 24/7 service and monitoring during the contract. It requires an owned home and a 620+ credit score.

Solar loan (Oriental Bank and WH Financial)

You own it

Terms of 10, 15, 20 or 25 years through its alliance with Oriental Bank and other lenders; a September 2025 company post also names WH Financial. It requires an owned home and a 650+ credit score. The lender sets the rate.

Cash

You own it

You pay the full price up front. Warranty terms match the loan plan.

Plans as listed on WindMar Home’s solar page and financing page, read October 13, 2026 (pages in Spanish).

WindMar’s financing page says its PPA is a partnership with Qcells, and its solar page says its systems use Tesla Powerwall batteries (the calculator lists Powerwall 3). It also shows Enphase and Anker logos and sells Anker portable batteries. It says its panels are designed for Category 5 hurricane winds. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh). It also offers roof sealing and water systems.

WindMar also sells roof sealing; any roof sealing warranty is separate from solar workmanship coverage.

Where does WindMar Home operate, and which licenses were checked?

WindMar Home’s offices page lists offices in San Juan, Ponce, Mayagüez and Hatillo, plus booths in Home Depot stores across Puerto Rico. Its Florida page says it has more recently begun working in Florida but lists no Florida cities (both read October 13, 2026). Its Florida roofing claims page lists Florida offices in Tampa, Miramar and Orlando (read October 14, 2026). A listed area does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with WindMar there.

Licenses

We found 9 active license records in state registries (October 13, 2026). 2 published or listed licenses are expired or inactive in Florida; see the records below. WindMar’s about page says it became a Tesla Certified Installer and has partnerships with Tesla, Anker and Oriental Bank. Its homepage says it has installed more than 65,000 Tesla batteries and shows a Puerto Rico Energy Bureau (NEPR) logo among its certifications. These are company statements; we did not verify them.

How we researched this profile

We read WindMar Home’s own pages on October 13, 2026 (most in Spanish): homepage, about, solar, financing, offices, Florida and FAQ. The old windmarhome.com address now redirects to windmar.com. On October 14, 2026 we read its sitemap, Florida solar and roofing pages and a company post, and its claimed Google Business listings for San Juan, Ponce, Mayagüez and Hatillo. We did not check licenses in a registry. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. WindMar Home did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
