EDGE Energy Review

Solar, battery, HVAC and home energy contractorBased in Beltsville, MarylandProfile updated October 13, 2026

Is EDGE Energy a good choice?

EDGE Energy fits Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia homeowners who want solar alongside energy audits, insulation or a heat pump from one contractor. It says it was founded in 2006 and that its own employees, not subcontractors, design, install and service systems. It lists loans, PPAs and cash. It publishes no solar warranty terms or license numbers, so get both in writing before you sign.

Why choose EDGE Energy, and why you might not

What EDGE does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose EDGE

  • It also does heat pumps and insulationEDGE puts in solar, and can also check where your home loses energy, add insulation or put in a heat pump. None of the three alternatives below lists that work.

  • Its own staff do the workEDGE says its own employees, not hired-in crews, design, install and service your system. Of the three alternatives below, Ipsun says the same about its installers.

  • It has an office in each areaEDGE has offices in Beltsville, Washington and Reston, one for each of Maryland, DC and Virginia. It says it has worked since 2006.

  • Owners praise its crewsIts head-office Google listing shows 4.8 from 287 reviews. Owners praise skilled, on-time crews and clear updates. One owner says EDGE finished a job another company had walked away from.

Reasons to look at others

  • It lists no solar warrantyEDGE publishes no warranty on its own work, the panels, or leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. It only advertises a satisfaction guarantee. Solar Energy World lists a 30-year warranty. Get every term in writing.

  • We found no DC licenseEDGE’s Maryland license was active when we checked on October 13, 2026. We found no DC record, and it publishes no license numbers. Ask for its DC and Virginia licenses before you sign.

  • It does not name its lendersEDGE lists loans and a PPA (you pay for the power; the company owns the panels). It does not name the PPA company or most lenders. Ask who you will pay, and for the terms in writing.

  • Some owners waited months to get turned onIts negative reviews describe unanswered calls, and one system that took eight months to be turned on by the power company. Two reviewers say they were pushed to change their reviews. Ask how long that step usually takes.

EDGE Energy reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

  • Google4.8 / 5287 reviews · Beltsville, MD office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise knowledgeable, punctual crews and clear communication, and one owner says the team finished a solar install another company had abandoned. The five negative reviews describe unanswered emails and calls, a project the reviewer says missed a grant deadline and took eight months to get permission to operate, poor scheduling, and two reviewers who report being pressed to change their reviews. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Edge Energy how long utility approval usually takes.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Dec 19, 2022). We found no Trustpilot page for EDGE Energy on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does EDGE Energy cost?

EDGE does not publish a fixed system price; its financing page shows only example scenarios. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and, if you finance, the financed total with APR and fees. Some EDGE state pages still describe the federal residential solar tax credit, which ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025, so leave it out of your math. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Cash purchase

You own it

You pay the full price upfront.

Solar loan

You own it

Through EDGE’s lending partners, which set the terms.

GreenSky home improvement loan

You own it

Unsecured loan through GreenSky; EDGE lists its credit plans on a separate page.

PPA (power purchase agreement)

A partner owns it

You pay for the power the panels produce. The partner is not named.

Plans as listed on EDGE’s solar financing page and GreenSky financing page, read October 13, 2026. No lease is listed.

EDGE does not name the panel or battery brands it installs. Its Maryland solar page discusses microinverters, string inverters and SolarEdge, and its service subscription mentions Enphase monitoring. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh). EDGE also sells a paid solar service subscription.

EDGE has no solar warranty page. We read its solar page, about page and solar service FAQ on October 13, 2026. Your signed agreement decides what applies.

EDGE’s roofing page lists a 2-year warranty on roofing repairs and replacements. That covers roof work, not solar workmanship.

Where does EDGE Energy operate, and which licenses were checked?

EDGE’s about page and contact page say it serves Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia from offices in Beltsville, Washington and Reston (read October 13, 2026). No counties are listed. A listed state does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with EDGE there.

Licenses

We found 1 active license record in state registries (October 13, 2026). We found no record under its name in District of Columbia; ask for the license number. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

How we researched this profile

We read EDGE Energy’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, solar, Maryland, DC and Virginia solar pages, financing, GreenSky financing, solar service, roofing, about and contact. We did not check licenses in a state registry. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. EDGE Energy did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
