Ipsun Solar Review

Solar and battery installerOffices in Washington, DC and Fairfax, VirginiaProfile updated October 14, 2026

Is Ipsun Solar a good choice?

Ipsun Solar fits homeowners in Northern Virginia, DC and nearby Maryland counties who want a local installer with both ownership and lease options. It says its installers are its own employees, and its payment page lists purchase, loan, lease and PPA through third-party partners. Ipsun was acquired by Civic Renewables in 2024. It gives no workmanship term or license numbers, so ask for both in writing.

Why choose Ipsun Solar, and why you might not

What Ipsun does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Ipsun

  • You can buy, borrow or rentIpsun lists four ways to pay: buy, take a loan, rent the panels, or take a PPA (you pay for the power; the company owns the panels). None of the three alternatives below lists all four.

  • It names its panel brandIpsun says it uses Qcells panels. It names Tesla, Enphase and FranklinWH batteries. None of the three alternatives below names a panel brand.

  • Its own staff do the installIpsun says its installers are its own employees, not hired help. It has offices in Washington, DC and Fairfax, Virginia.

  • It lists the towns it servesIts pages name towns in Northern Virginia, such as Arlington and Fairfax, and Maryland, such as Bethesda and Annapolis. Ask if it works at your address.

Reasons to look at others

  • Its work warranty has no set lengthIpsun says it covers its own work but gives no length. It adds extra cover through another company, Solar Insure. Ask for the term on its own work in writing.

  • No warranty listed for roof leaksIpsun lists no warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Solar Energy World says it repairs damage from those leaks. Ask Ipsun who fixes a leak and for how long.

  • Other companies run its loan, rent and PPA plansIpsun does not name the companies behind those plans. Ask who you will pay each month, and who owns the panels.

  • We found no reviews to readWe found no Google listing for Ipsun, so we could not read owner reviews. Ipsun was bought by Civic Renewables in 2024. Ask who handles service calls after the install.

Ipsun Solar reviews: what customers say

We found no Google or Trustpilot reviews for Ipsun Solar when we checked in October 2026. Ask the company for references from recent customers in your area.

How much does Ipsun Solar cost?

Ipsun publishes a general per-watt price range in its homepage FAQ, not a fixed price for your home. Ask for an itemized quote with the cash price, system size, equipment models and forecast production, and, for a lease or PPA, the monthly payment, term and escalator. Some of its pages still mention a 30% federal credit for owned systems; that credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Purchase

You own it

You pay the full cost upfront.

Solar loan

You own it

Fixed monthly payments to a third-party lender; Ipsun says it works with credit union and other lending partners.

Lease

A third party owns it

A fixed monthly payment for the equipment. Ipsun says availability and terms vary by state and that 0% escalator options exist.

PPA

A third party owns it

You pay for the energy the system produces. Ipsun says maintenance is covered and a performance guarantee applies.

Plans as listed on Ipsun’s costs, financing and payment options page and third-party-owned solar page, read October 13, 2026. Ipsun says financing comes from third-party providers, not Ipsun.

Ipsun’s state pages say it partners with Qcells for its panels and that its crews are certified for Tesla, Enphase and Franklin batteries. Its battery page lists Tesla Powerwall 3, Enphase and FranklinWH. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Ipsun Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

Ipsun’s about page says it installs in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC (read October 13, 2026). Its Northern Virginia page lists towns such as Alexandria, Arlington, Ashburn, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Herndon, Leesburg and McLean, and its Maryland page lists Annapolis, Baltimore, Bethesda, Potomac and Montgomery, Frederick, Baltimore and Washington counties. A listed area does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Ipsun there.

Licenses

We found 3 active license records in state registries (October 13, 2026). Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

How we researched this profile

We read Ipsun Solar’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, about, why Ipsun, costs and financing, third-party-owned solar, residential installation, battery storage and its Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia pages. On October 14, 2026 we also checked its Google Business listings and Virginia and DC business records via OpenCorporates; its own site showed a bot check that day. We did not check a license in a state registry. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. Ipsun Solar did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
