Is Barkley Solar a good choice?

Barkley Solar fits Wichita-area homeowners who want a local installer that also handles efficiency upgrades. It says its family has been in Wichita construction since 1975, and it publishes a 10-year roof penetration warranty on all solar installs. It publishes no separate workmanship term, and its two pages give different years for the family business. Ask for the workmanship warranty in writing.

Why choose Barkley Solar, and why you might not

What Barkley Solar does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Barkley Solar

  • It covers roof leaks for 10 yearsBarkley lists a 10-year warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof, on every solar job. None of the three alternatives below lists one.

  • It names its equipment brandsBarkley says it uses Qcells panels. It names Enphase, Tesla and Generac batteries. King Solar names no brands. You can look up the equipment before a sales visit.

  • It helps when you need a new roofIts good reviews praise help taking panels off and putting them back during a roof replacement. Owners say it handled the city paperwork and insurance details too.

  • You can borrow or rentBarkley lists a loan, renting the panels, or a PPA (you pay for the power; the company owns the panels). King Solar and Good Energy list no ways to pay.

Reasons to look at others

  • No set warranty on its own workBarkley lists no warranty of its own on its work. Ask for the length in writing before you sign, and ask what it covers.

  • Its payment plans have no detailsBarkley does not name its lender or who runs its rent and PPA plans. It does not say if you can pay upfront. Ask who you will pay, and who owns the panels.

  • One roofer reported damage to a new roofIts one negative review says taking panels off damaged a new roof. The repair took weeks of cancelled visits. Ask who fixes roof damage caused during panel work, and how fast.

  • We could not confirm its licensesWe found no Kansas state license for the company. Its site shows two business license numbers we did not check. Ask which licenses Barkley and its electricians hold.

Barkley Solar reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

  • Google4.8 / 522 reviews · Wichita, KS office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise help removing and reinstalling panels during roof replacements, including city paperwork and insurance details, plus responsive communication and quick, professional crews. The one negative review, from a roofer, reports that panel removal damaged a new roof and that the repair took weeks of cancelled appointments and late arrivals. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Barkley Solar who repairs roof damage caused during panel work and how quickly.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (22 reviews read, back to Jan 30, 2025). We found no Trustpilot page for Barkley Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Barkley Solar cost?

Barkley Solar does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed; its examples cite customer bills, not prices. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size and equipment models, and for a loan, the financed total with APR and fees. Its pages advertise zero-down options, so ask which plan that refers to and who owns the system. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Barkley Solar says it partners with Qcells for panels. Its storage page names the Enphase IQ Battery 5P, Tesla Powerwall 3 and Generac PWRcell. It names no separate inverter brand. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Its efficiency page says it also offers LED lighting, AC units, smart thermostats and generators.

Company-published terms from Barkley Solar’s storage options page, read October 13, 2026. Its residential page has an “Our Warranties” heading with no terms beneath it. Your signed agreement decides what applies.

Its homepage also shows a social post saying “We offer a 25 year warranty,” without saying what it covers. Do not treat it as a workmanship term unless your contract says so.

Where does Barkley Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

Barkley Solar’s residential solar page lists Wichita, Andover, Derby, Newton, Hutchinson, Goddard, Maize, Valley Center, El Dorado and surrounding Sedgwick County communities (read October 13, 2026). Its contact page also says it serves Kansas and Oklahoma, but no page lists Oklahoma towns. A listed town does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Barkley Solar there.

Licenses

Kansas licenses this work through individuals or local permits, not a company license; ask for the license holder’s number. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.
