Southern Solar Systems Review
Solar design, supply and installation contractorBased in Huntsville, AlabamaProfile updated October 15, 2026
Is Southern Solar Systems a good choice?
Southern Solar Systems fits North Alabama property owners, especially farms and businesses, who want a local electrical contractor that designs and installs solar. It says it was founded in 2007 and is a fully licensed electrical contractor. Its site publishes no warranty terms, payment plans or license number, and its newest posts date from 2021, though its site carries a 2026 copyright and Alabama lists the corporation as active. Ask for all three in writing before you sign.

Why choose Southern Solar Systems, and why you might not
What Southern Solar does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.
Reasons to choose Southern Solar
It has worked since 2007Southern Solar says it was founded in 2007. It says it is a fully licensed electrical contractor that designs, supplies and puts in solar.
It does farms and businesses tooIt puts solar on homes, farms, businesses and schools in North Alabama. Neither alternative below lists farm work.
It also does geothermal heating and coolingSouthern Solar puts in geothermal systems too. One owner praises a crew that kept working on a geothermal heat pump until it ran well.
Reasons to look at others
It lists no warranty at allSouthern Solar publishes no warranty on panels, on its own work, or for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Creative Solar lists 5 years on its own work. Get every warranty in writing.
It does not say how you can payIts site lists no way to pay. Ask if it offers only cash or also a loan, and who would own the panels.
It does not print its license numberSouthern Solar says it is licensed but prints no number. We could not check it. Ask for the number and check it with the state.
Its site looks out of dateIts newest posts are from 2021. One owner says a quote request in 2022 got no answer. Ask if it is taking new solar jobs, and how fast it answers.
Southern Solar Systems reviews: what customers say
Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

The two positive reviews below praise a crew that worked through problems until a geothermal heat pump ran well, and knowledgeable staff and friendly installers on a 10 kW solar system in 2018. The one negative review, from 2022, describes a request for a solar water heater quote that no one answered. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Southern Solar Systems how quickly it responds to quote requests.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (5 reviews read, back to Nov 22, 2015). We found no Trustpilot page for Southern Solar Systems on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.
How much does Southern Solar Systems cost?
Southern Solar Systems does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed; it offers a free estimate. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size and equipment models, and how you can pay. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.
Payment plans
Ask who owns itNo payment plans are listed on its site. Ask whether it offers cash purchase only or financing, and who would own the system.
No plans listed on Southern Solar Systems’ site, read October 13, 2026.
Southern Solar Systems does not name current panel, inverter or battery brands. Two project pages from 2021 list the parts used: a 10 kW ground mount with GCL 375W panels and a Fronius Primo inverter, and a 10.13 kW system with GCL panels and a Generac PWRcell inverter and battery. These show past jobs, not what it installs today. Its services pages cover residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and educational solar, plus geothermal. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Southern Solar Systems operate, and which licenses were checked?
Southern Solar Systems’ about page says it is headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama and serves the entire southeastern United States, without naming other states (read October 13, 2026). Its residential page mentions the TVA area. A listed area does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Southern Solar Systems there.

Licenses
We have not checked Southern Solar’s licenses in a state registry yet, and its website does not list license numbers we could match. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.
