Is Solar States a good choice?
Solar States fits Philadelphia-area homeowners, including rowhome owners with flat roofs, who want a local installer that does all work in-house. It says it was founded in 2008 as a certified B Corp that also trains new solar workers, and it prints its PA, NJ and NY license numbers. It offers a lease, a discounted ownership plan and cash purchase. It publishes a workmanship term only for battery systems, so ask for the solar terms in writing.

The five positive reviews below praise clear communication, permit and inspection handling, tidy crews and help with an SREC trading account. The five negative reviews describe an SREC application incomplete after two years, a year-long start delay, monitoring the reviewer says was set up wrong, an unanswered support ticket, billing after a cancelled project and drivers reported running stop signs. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Solar States who files SREC paperwork and how it handles support tickets.

Solar States does not name panel brands. Its support page shows Enphase and SolarEdge inverters, and its Powerwall page says it is a Tesla Certified Installer for the Powerwall. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Solar States operate, and which licenses were checked?
Solar States’ homepage says it installs solar, batteries and EV chargers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware (read October 13, 2026). Its support page lists only PA, NJ and MD. Its 2025 report on the homepage mentions work expanding into Chester County and Harrisburg. Delaware’s contractor registry lists Solar States LLC as active (see licenses below), so we kept DE. A listed state does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Solar States there.

Solar States’ homepage says it is a certified B Corp, and its Powerwall page says it is a Tesla Certified Installer. These are company statements; we did not verify them. Its footer also lists NY license 2005777 (DCA), though New York is not in its stated service area.
