Shinnova Solar Review

Solar, battery and backup power installerBased in Kansas City, KansasProfile updated October 14, 2026

Is Shinnova Solar a good choice?

Shinnova Solar fits Kansas City and St. Louis homeowners who want solar paired with a whole-home battery system. It says it has been in Kansas City since 2016, uses in-house W-2 crews and sells the EcoFlow Ocean Pro battery line as an authorized dealer. Its site advertises a 25-year warranty but does not say what it covers, so get the workmanship and roof terms in writing.

Why choose Shinnova Solar, and why you might not

What Shinnova does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Shinnova

  • It builds around a whole-home batteryShinnova says it sells the EcoFlow Ocean Pro line: batteries, an inverter, a smart electrical panel and backup generators. It lists a 10-year warranty on that system. It can keep your whole home running in an outage.

  • Its own staff do the installsShinnova says its install crews are its own employees, not outside crews. It says it has been in Kansas City since 2016.

  • It promises output for 25 yearsIts site lists a 25-year production guarantee, a promise about how much power the system makes. StraightUp lists 10 years. Ask what Shinnova pays if the system makes less, and get it in writing.

Reasons to look at others

  • Its 25-year warranty is vagueShinnova advertises a 25-year warranty and 25 years of support, but does not say what they cover. It lists no warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. StraightUp lists 10 years on its own work.

  • It does not say how you can payShinnova advertises plans with nothing to pay upfront. It names no lender, rent plan or PPA. Ask which plans exist and who owns the panels under each.

  • No panel brand or license numbersShinnova names no panel brand. It prints no license numbers for Kansas, Missouri or Illinois. Ask for the exact panel model and for its license where you live.

  • Some reviews describe pushy sales and slow serviceIts negative reviews describe a pushy sales visit, hail-damaged panels with service calls unanswered, and low power output. Most of its good reviews are about roofing and siding, not solar. Ask who handles solar service calls.

Shinnova Solar reviews: what customers say

We found no Google or Trustpilot reviews for Shinnova Solar when we checked in October 2026. Ask the company for references from recent customers in your area.

How much does Shinnova Solar cost?

Shinnova does not publish a system price on its residential page; it offers a free estimate after reviewing your bill and roof. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, panel, inverter and battery models and, if you finance, the financed total with APR and fees. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

$0-down options (details not listed)

Ask who owns it

The residential page advertises $0-down options without naming a lender, lease or PPA. Ask which plans exist and who owns the system under each.

Payment options as advertised on Shinnova’s residential page, read October 13, 2026. No cash terms, loan, lease or PPA are named.

Shinnova says it is an authorized EcoFlow Ocean Pro dealer and builds most systems around that line: stackable LFP batteries, a hybrid inverter, a smart panel and backup generators (homepage). Its residential page also shows Enphase. It describes its panels only as tier-1 monocrystalline, with no brand. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Shinnova Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

Shinnova’s Kansas City page lists towns on both sides of the state line, including Olathe, Overland Park, Shawnee, Topeka, Lee’s Summit, Independence and Liberty. Its St. Louis page covers St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson counties in Missouri and Madison County in Illinois (both read October 13, 2026). A listed town does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Shinnova there.

Licenses

Kansas licenses this work through individuals or local permits, not a company license; ask for the license holder’s number. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

    Note
Kansas has no state-level contractor or electrical license. The 2026 Supplemental Note on HB 2588 (kslegislature.gov) says the bill ‘would transfer occupational licensing authority for electricians to the State Fire Marshal … from cities and counties’; the bill died (kslegislature.gov/li/b2025_26/measures/hb2588/), so licensing stays with cities and counties. No state registry to search for Shinnova Solar (Kansas City, KS); local license not checked.
