ProVision Solar Review

Solar and battery installerBased in Hilo, HawaiiProfile updated October 14, 2026

Is ProVision Solar a good choice?

ProVision Solar fits Big Island and Maui homeowners, and now Oahu, who want a long-running local installer. It says it has served Hawaii since 1998, prints its Hawaii electrical contractor license, and its panel page names Qcells, Maxeon and REC. It publishes no workmanship warranty, and its Oahu office has no address yet, so get warranty terms and your local service contact in writing.

Why choose ProVision Solar, and why you might not

What ProVision does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose ProVision

  • It names its equipmentProVision names Qcells, Maxeon and REC panels, and SMA and SolarEdge inverters. It says it is certified to put in the Tesla Powerwall 3 battery. You can look these up before a sales visit.

  • It has worked in Hawaii since 1998ProVision says it has served Hawaii since 1998. Its head office is in Hilo, with more offices in Kailua-Kona and Kahului on Maui.

  • You can use your own lenderProVision offers a Sungage loan that it says needs only a soft credit check and no home equity. You can also pay cash or use any bank or credit union you choose.

  • Its Google score is the highest hereIts head-office Google listing shows 4.9 from 91 reviews. That is the highest score in the table below. One owner reports eleven years with no service problems and batteries that kept the power on.

Reasons to look at others

  • It lists no warranty on its own workProVision publishes no warranty on its own work or for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Alternate Energy Hawaii lists 10 years on its solar work. Get both terms in writing.

  • No battery or inverter warranty terms listedProVision leaves the inverter and battery warranties to their makers, and gives no terms. Ask for each warranty, with its length, in writing.

  • Its Oahu office has no address yetProVision now serves Oahu, but its contact page says the Oahu office address is coming soon. If you live on Oahu, ask who your local service contact will be.

  • One review describes a billing mix-upIts one negative review says an invoice went to someone who never did business with ProVision, and no one answered. Ask who handles billing questions and how fast they reply.

The five positive reviews below praise proactive updates from first contact through inspection, helpful system design and professional crews, and one owner reports eleven years without service issues and batteries that kept power on through outages. The one negative review describes an invoice sent to someone who says they never did business with the company and got no answer about it. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask ProVision who handles billing questions and how quickly they respond.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (91 reviews read, back to Aug 15, 2017). We found no Trustpilot page for ProVision Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does ProVision Solar cost?

ProVision does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed. Its homepage advertises percentage discounts; ask for an itemized quote with the cash price, any discount as its own line, system size, battery size, equipment models and forecast production. For price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Sungage solar loan

You own it

A loan from Sungage Financial that can cover solar, batteries and roof work; ProVision says it uses a soft credit check and needs no home equity.

Your own lender or cash

You own it

ProVision says you can pay through any bank, credit union or other lender you choose.

Plans as listed on ProVision’s residential financing page, read October 13, 2026. No lease or PPA is listed.

ProVision’s panel page names Qcells, Maxeon and REC panels, and its inverter page names SMA and SolarEdge inverters. It says it is a Tesla Powerwall 3 certified installer. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does ProVision Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

ProVision’s homepage says it serves the Big Island, Maui and Oahu, with local pages for Hilo, Kona, East and West Hawaii, Maui and Oahu (read October 13, 2026). Its contact page lists offices in Hilo, Kailua-Kona and Kahului; the Oahu office address is “coming soon.” A listed island does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with ProVision there.

Licenses

We found 1 active license record in state registries (October 13, 2026). Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

How we researched this profile

We read ProVision Solar’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, about, residential solar, residential financing, panels, inverters and monitoring, Tesla Powerwall and contact. We did not check its license in a state registry. On October 14, 2026 we also checked its Hawaii business registry record (through OpenCorporates) and its Google Business listing, which both place the main office at 69 Railroad Avenue, Hilo. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. ProVision Solar did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
