Is Maine Solar Solutions a good choice?

Maine Solar Solutions fits Maine homeowners who want a long installer warranty from a Maine-only company. It says it was founded in 2012 and runs its own electrical arm, MSS Electric. Its 30-year limited warranty covers panels, inverters, optimizers, labor and monitoring on grid-tied systems, but it does not name batteries or roof leaks. Ask for both in writing, and note off-grid systems are excluded.

Why choose Maine Solar Solutions, and why you might not

What Maine Solar Solutions does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Maine Solar Solutions

  • Its warranty lasts 30 yearsIts 30-year warranty covers its own work, the panels and the inverters on systems tied to the power company. It passes to the next owner at no cost. Of the three alternatives below, ReVision lists 10 years, and only in New Hampshire.

  • It names its equipment brandsIt names REC, Qcells, Silfab and Canadian Solar panels, SolarEdge inverters, and Tesla, FranklinWH and SolarEdge batteries. None of the three alternatives below names a panel brand.

  • It works only in MaineMaine Solar Solutions started in 2012 and works only in Maine. It has an office in Freeport and its own electrical arm, MSS Electric.

  • Owners praise quick, tidy installsIts head-office Google listing shows 4.9 from 217 reviews. Owners praise crews who came on time, finished in a day and left the site clean.

Reasons to look at others

  • Its warranty leaves out batteries and roof leaksThe 30-year warranty does not name batteries or leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. It does not cover off-grid systems. Ask for battery and leak cover in writing.

  • It does not name its lendersIts loans come from lenders it does not name. Its Propel plan has a partner own the system for five years before it passes to you. Ask who you pay and what happens if you sell.

  • Some reviews describe poor planningIts negative reviews describe panels put in tree shade, a septic field driven over, and a tax credit explanation one owner called misleading. Ask to see your loan payments without any tax credit.

  • Ask for the electrician’s licenseMaine licenses electricians as people, not companies, so there is no company license to check. Ask for the license number of the master electrician on your job.

The five positive reviews below praise punctual crews who finished installs in a day and left sites clean, plus help with permits and an off-grid camp. The three negative reviews describe a tax credit explanation one reviewer calls misleading, panels placed in tree shade plus a driven-over leach field, and weeks of waiting before extra panels were declined. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Maine Solar Solutions to show loan payments without any tax credit.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Jul 16, 2020). We found no Trustpilot page for Maine Solar Solutions on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Maine Solar Solutions cost?

Maine Solar Solutions does not publish a price for your home; its cost page gives a typical range for an average Maine home and offers a solar calculator. Ask for an itemized quote with the cash price, system size, equipment models and, for a loan or Propel, the lender, APR, fees and financed total. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Your written proposal should list the exact models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Maine Solar Solutions operate, and which licenses were checked?

Maine Solar Solutions’ about page says it installs for homes and businesses across Maine, and its FAQ says it focuses only on Maine, with an office in Freeport and a warehouse in Brunswick (read October 14, 2026). Licenses

Maine licenses this work through individuals or local permits, not a company license; ask for the license holder’s number. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.
