Is Lightspring Solar a good choice?

Lightspring fits North Dakota homeowners who want solar paired with energy-efficiency work or solar air heating. Its residential page advertises a 25-year workmanship warranty and Tesla Powerwall installs. Much of its site has not been updated since about 2022: it still cites a 26% tax credit “through 2022” and a 2021 copyright. North Dakota’s business registry shows the LLC active, with a trade name filed in October 2026. Get its license number and current terms in writing before you sign.

Why choose Lightspring Solar, and why you might not

What Lightspring does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Lightspring

  • It lists 25 years on its own workLightspring advertises a 25-year warranty on its own work. Of the three alternatives below, only Wolf River lists a term that long. Ask Lightspring for the written warranty before you sign.

  • It can heat air with the sun, tooLightspring sells solar air heaters as well as solar panels. It also builds ground mounts, carports and off-grid systems.

  • It puts in Tesla batteriesLightspring says it installs Tesla Powerwall batteries. It names its loan company, Service Finance, which sets the loan terms.

  • We found an active North Dakota licenseWe found an active North Dakota license for Lightspring when we checked on October 13, 2026. Its site does not print the number, so ask for it.

Reasons to look at others

  • Much of its site is oldParts of its site have not changed since about 2022. They still show a 2021 copyright and a tax credit rate that has changed since. Ask for current terms in writing.

  • It names no panel or inverter brandLightspring names no panel brand and no inverter brand. Ask for the exact models in your written quote, and look them up before you sign.

  • No roof leak or battery warranty listedIt lists no warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof, and no battery warranty. Ask who fixes a leak, who pays, and for how long.

  • Its reviews are few and not recentIts head-office Google listing shows 5 from 8 reviews. The ones we read are from 2022 and 2023, with none negative. Ask who handles service calls after the install and how fast.

Lightspring Solar reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

  • Google5 / 58 reviews · Bismarck, ND office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise accurate expectations, permit handling, quick answers and careful installs on homes, a store and an off-grid workshop, and one says the company worked with the manufacturer several times to fix monitoring software. There were no negative reviews among the reviews we read, and all of them date from 2022 and 2023. Positive reviews alone do not show how a company handles problems. Ask Lightspring who handles service calls after installation and how quickly it responds.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (8 reviews read, back to Apr 27, 2021). We found no Trustpilot page for Lightspring Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Lightspring Solar cost?

Lightspring does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and, if you finance, the lender, APR, fees and financed total. Its site still describes federal tax credits that no longer apply to home systems, so do not rely on those figures. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Purchase

You own it

Pay for the system yourself. The site describes buying solar as owning an asset but lists no payment terms.

Financing

You own it

Its financing page links to an application with Service Finance. The lender sets the terms.

Plans as listed on Lightspring’s financing page and homepage, read October 13, 2026. No lease is listed; its PPA mentions refer to selling power from commercial projects.

Lightspring does not name panel or inverter brands on the pages we read. Its residential page says it installs Tesla Powerwall batteries, and its homepage says it sells 8th Fire solar thermal air heaters. It also builds ground mounts, carports and off-grid systems. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Lightspring Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

Lightspring’s about page says it has a central office in Bismarck, installers stationed across North Dakota, and projects in North Dakota and Minnesota (read October 13, 2026). Its residential page says “North Dakota first.” A listed state does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Lightspring there.

How we researched this profile

We read Lightspring’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, about, residential, financing, FAQ, contact and media. On October 14, 2026 its site blocked our automated check, so we read no new company pages; we checked the North Dakota Secretary of State business search and looked up its Google Business listing for its street address. We did not check its licenses in a state registry ourselves. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. Lightspring did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
