Why choose J-Tech Construction & Solar, and why you might not

What J-Tech does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose J-Tech

  • It does your roof tooJ-Tech puts in solar and also does roof work, siding and windows. Of the three alternatives below, only All Energy also does roofing.

  • Its own crew does the whole jobJ-Tech says it uses no outside crews. Its own team puts in the panels and wiring, and gets the system turned on by the power company. GC ReVOLT uses partner firms for its electrical work.

  • You get your install recordsWhen the job is done, J-Tech says you get records of the install with the warranty details. Keep them for repairs or if you sell the house.

  • It has been in business since 2004J-Tech says it started in Lincoln in 2004. Its head-office Google listing shows 4.4 from 238 reviews. Its site does not say when it began putting in solar.

Reasons to look at others

  • It lists no solar warrantyJ-Tech says it sets warranty terms before each job, but publishes none. Get the terms for the panels, the inverter, its own work and roof leaks in writing before you sign.

  • It lists only one way to payJ-Tech lists financing through GreenSky, a loan company. It lists no terms, and no option to buy outright or rent the panels. Ask for the loan terms in writing.

  • It names no equipment brandsJ-Tech names no panel, inverter or battery brand. Ask for the exact models in your written quote.

  • Some reviews describe damage left unfixedIts negative reviews describe systems that took months to work, home damage left unrepaired and calls not returned. Ask who repairs damage from the install and how fast.

J-Tech Construction & Solar reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

  • Google4.4 / 5238 reviews · Lincoln, NE office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise clear, upfront explanations of how solar works and friendly, helpful staff, and one owner says the crew flagged a needed panel upgrade. The four negative reviews describe installs that took months to work, two reviews reporting about 9,000 dollars in home damage left unrepaired, promised features not delivered, unreturned calls, and a sighting of a company vehicle driver. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask J-Tech who repairs installation damage and how quickly.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (18 reviews read, back to Feb 25, 2019). We found no Trustpilot page for J-Tech Construction & Solar on October 12, 2026. Its Google listing is mainly for other trades, so we only used reviews that mention solar. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does J-Tech Construction & Solar cost?

J-Tech does not publish a system price on its residential solar page; it says panel count and inverter choice come from a site assessment, not a package price. Ask for an itemized written estimate showing the cash price, system size and equipment models, and for GreenSky financing, the financed total with APR and fees. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

GreenSky financing

You own it

Financing through GreenSky for solar, roofing and exterior projects; terms and qualification are reviewed at the estimate.

Plans as listed on J-Tech’s financing page and residential solar page, read October 13, 2026. No lease or PPA is listed.

J-Tech does not name panel, inverter or battery brands on the pages we read. Its residential solar page says its own crew handles panels, wiring, inverter and utility interconnection, and that you get installation records with warranty details at close-out. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Company statements from J-Tech’s residential solar page, read October 13, 2026. It says every solar install is warranty-backed but publishes no terms. Your signed agreement decides what applies.

Its about page describes manufacturer warranties on James Hardie siding and ProVia windows and doors. Those are not solar coverage.

Where does J-Tech Construction & Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

J-Tech’s service area page says it serves Nebraska except the panhandle from offices in Lincoln and Grand Island, with 30 named community pages including Omaha, Kearney, Hastings and Council Bluffs, Iowa (read October 13, 2026). It also mentions “select areas” in Kansas, South Dakota and Missouri without naming them. A listed community does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with J-Tech there.

Licenses

We found 2 active license records in state registries (October 13, 2026). We found no record under its name in Iowa; ask for the license number. Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

J-Tech’s about page says it is a James Hardie Contractor Alliance Partner and a Certified ProVia Partner through Window Depot USA. These are siding, window and door credentials, not solar certifications. These are company statements; we did not verify them.

How we researched this profile

We read J-Tech’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, about, solar panels, residential solar, financing and service areas. We did not check its registration in a state registry. On October 14, 2026 we also checked its Google Business listings for Lincoln and Grand Island, which show the same street addresses and give the ZIP codes; its own site was behind a bot check that day, and the Nebraska business registry did not load. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. J-Tech did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
