Why choose Idahome Energy, and why you might not
What Idahome does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.
Reasons to choose Idahome
It does your roof tooIdahome puts in solar, batteries and roofing, and runs them as one project. Of the two alternatives below, Intermountain also does roofing.
It has many ways to payYou can buy, take a loan with nothing due until the job is done, rent the panels, or prepay your rent. It also lists a PPA (you pay for the power; the company owns the panels).
It is certified for the Tesla Powerwall 3Idahome says it is a certified Tesla Powerwall 3 installer. It lists Tesla’s 10-year battery warranty. We did not check the certificate.
Many owners praise clear answersIts head-office Google listing shows 4.8 from 310 reviews. Its good reviews praise clear explanations and a quick fix for a system left behind by a company that closed.
Reasons to look at others
Partner crews do the installIdahome says its team runs each project, but partner companies do the install. Ask which company will be on your roof, and who fixes its mistakes.
No set warranty on its own workIdahome says its work is backed by its warranty but publishes no length. It lists no warranty for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Big Dog lists 10 years for both if you buy.
It does not name its partners or brandsIt does not name its lender, its rent or PPA providers, or its panel and inverter brands. Ask for each name and the terms in writing.
Some owners report pushy sales and loose endsIts negative reviews describe pushy sales visits, no-show installers and an electrical inspection still unsigned after five years. Ask who finishes the final inspection.

The five positive reviews below praise clear explanations, battery installs and a quick fix for an inverter left by an installer that had closed. The five negative reviews describe an electrical inspection unsigned after five years, no-show installers, an unavailable monitoring app, pushy sales visits, a credit check before roof fit was confirmed and projections one reviewer calls misleading. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Idahome who completes final inspections and what rate increase its projections assume.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Jan 28, 2022). We found no Trustpilot page for Idahome Energy on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.
How much does Idahome Energy cost?
Idahome Energy does not publish a fixed system price on the pages we reviewed. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and, if you finance, the lender, financed total, APR and fees. If you consider the prepaid lease, ask who the lease partner is and what the year-6 ownership option costs. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Idahome Energy says it is a certified Tesla Powerwall 3 installer (battery page and site guides). It does not name panel or inverter brands on the pages we read. Its solar page says its team manages each project while “highly vetted installer partners” complete the installation. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW), the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh) and the company that will install it.
What does Idahome Energy’s warranty cover?
Coverage | What Idahome publishes | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
Solar panels | 25 years, per the company | Whether this is the panel maker’s warranty or Idahome’s, and the panel model. |
Panel output | 25-year performance warranty, at least 80% output | The output guarantee in the panel maker’s documents. |
Inverter | Not published | Confirm in your proposal: the inverter model, its maker’s term and who pays labor to replace it. |
Battery | Tesla Powerwall 3: 10 years (Tesla’s warranty, per the company’s guide) | Who handles battery service claims. |
Labor and workmanship | Not published (“backed by our warranty”) | Confirm in your proposal: the workmanship term, and whether Idahome or its installer partner holds it. |

Company-published terms from Idahome Energy’s solar page, the FAQ on its homepage and its financing page, read October 13, 2026. Your signed agreement decides what applies.
For the prepaid lease, the company says its partner adds a 25-year guarantee on top of Idahome’s warranty and the maker warranties. Ask for that guarantee in writing.
Where does Idahome Energy operate, and which licenses were checked?
Idahome Energy’s homepage and service area pages list the Treasure Valley (Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Eagle, Kuna, Star, Garden City, Middleton and Emmett), Mountain Home, and North Idaho from Lewiston to Moscow, Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum and Sandpoint (read October 13, 2026). Its Post Falls page (read October 14, 2026) says North Idaho projects are managed from a Post Falls office; the company’s claimed Google Business listing gives that office as 510 Clearwater Loop #100, Post Falls (checked October 14, 2026). A listed town does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Idahome there.
