Why choose CMI Solar & Electric, and why you might not
What CMI does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.
Reasons to choose CMI
It is an electrician, tooCMI says it has done electrical work since 1998. Besides solar, it can upgrade your electrical panel or put in a Generac standby generator. That means one company for the wiring and the panels.
We found active licenses in all its statesWe found active licenses for CMI in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania when we checked on October 13, 2026. You can check them with each state before you sign.
It points you to Delaware help programsCMI points Delaware homeowners to Energize Delaware loans and to a state grant for lower-income households. The program, not CMI, sets the terms. Ask CMI if your home qualifies.
It also looks after existing systemsCMI says it maintains new and existing systems. Its good reviews praise help with Delaware programs and staff who explain solar terms clearly.
Reasons to look at others
It lists no warranty at allCMI publishes no warranty on the panels, on its own work, or for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Solar Energy World lists a 30-year warranty that names roof leaks. Get every warranty from CMI in writing.
It names no equipment brandsCMI says only that it uses safety-tested products. It names no panel, inverter or battery brand. Ask for the exact models in your written quote, and look them up before you sign.
Few ways to pay are listedCMI lists only a Delaware loan program and a Delaware grant. It lists no cash terms, other loans, rent or PPA plans. Outside Delaware, ask how you can pay.
Its reviews are fewIts head-office Google listing shows 4.3 from 11 reviews. We found no negative reviews, but that does not show how it handles problems. Ask who takes service calls after the install and how fast they respond.

The three positive reviews below, picked from reviews that mention solar, praise decades of experience, excellent customer service, help with Delaware incentive programs and staff who explain solar terms clearly. There were no negative reviews among the reviews we read. Positive reviews alone do not show how a company handles problems. Ask CMI who handles service calls after installation and how quickly they respond.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (5 reviews read, back to Jul 31, 2018). We found no Trustpilot page for CMI Solar & Electric on October 12, 2026. Its Google listing is mainly for other trades, so we only used reviews that mention solar. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.
How much does CMI Solar & Electric cost?
CMI does not publish a system price on its solar page. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and any grant, rebate or loan applied. CMI says it handles design, permits, rebate approvals, inspections and utility coordination. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

You own itCMI’s solar page points to the Sustainable Energy Utility’s Energize Delaware loans and grants. The program, not CMI, sets the terms.
Delaware LMI grant
You own itFor income-qualified Delaware households, the state program may cover a free system up to 4 kW or 70% of a system up to 6 kW, per CMI’s LMI page. It says loan options can cover the remaining 30%.
Programs as listed on CMI’s solar page and LMI program page, read October 13, 2026. No cash terms, lease or PPA are listed.
CMI does not name panel, inverter or battery brands on its solar page. Its about page says it uses only UL-listed products. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, inverter and battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh). CMI says it also offers monitoring and maintenance for new and existing systems, and installs Generac standby generators.

How we researched this profile
We read CMI Solar & Electric’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, solar, LMI program, electrical services and contact/about. On October 14, 2026 we reread every page in its sitemap and checked its Google Business listing and an OpenCorporates summary of its Delaware corporate record; none added solar warranty, equipment or payment terms.
