Is Alaska Solar a good choice?

Alaska Solar fits Southcentral and Interior Alaska homeowners who want a local crew that handles the whole job. It says its team is 100% in-house, it does not use a sales team, and it prints its Alaska contractor license number. Its project gallery shows homes from Anchorage to Fairbanks. It publishes no warranty terms, payment plans or equipment brands, so get all three in writing before you sign.

Why choose Alaska Solar, and why you might not

What Alaska Solar does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Alaska Solar

  • Its own crew does the whole jobAlaska Solar says its whole team works for the company, and it does not use a sales team. Its own installers and licensed electricians handle permits and inspections.

  • It shows its license numberAlaska Solar prints its Alaska contractor license number. The license was active when we checked on October 13, 2026. Neither alternative below publishes a license number.

  • It shows homes it has done across AlaskaIts project photos show homes in Anchorage, Eagle River, Palmer, Wasilla, Talkeetna and Fairbanks. Ask if it works at your address.

  • Owners praise its clear answersIts head-office Google listing shows 4.9 from 59 reviews. Owners praise clear advice, detailed cost breakdowns and quick answers to questions.

Reasons to look at others

  • It lists no warranty at allAlaska Solar publishes no warranty on the panels, on its own work, or for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. RES and Susitna publish none either. Get every warranty in writing before you sign.

  • It does not say how you can payIts site lists no way to pay: no purchase, loan, rent or PPA plan. RES lists buying and a loan. Ask which plans Alaska Solar offers and who would own the panels.

  • It names no equipment brandsAlaska Solar names no panel, inverter or battery brands. Its site does not say whether it puts in batteries. Ask for the exact models in your written quote.

  • Its reviews do not show how it handles problemsWe found no negative reviews among those we read. That does not tell you how it handles problems. Ask who takes service calls after the install and how fast they respond.

Alaska Solar reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

  • Google4.9 / 559 reviews · Anchorage, AK office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise clear communication, professional advice, detailed cost analyses and quick answers to questions, and one owner describes a smooth battery install and meter move. Another says staff took time but solved hardware issues on the roof. There were no negative reviews among the reviews we read. Positive reviews alone do not show how a company handles problems. Ask Alaska Solar who handles service calls after installation and how quickly they usually respond.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (59 reviews read, back to Aug 8, 2017). We found no Trustpilot page for Alaska Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Alaska Solar cost?

Alaska Solar does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed. It offers a free site assessment, after which it says its consultants design options for your goals and budget. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and forecast yearly production. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Payment options not published

Ask who owns it

The site lists no cash, loan, lease or PPA options. Ask which plans it offers and who would own the system.

No payment plans appear on Alaska Solar’s homepage, solar page or contact page, read October 13, 2026.

Alaska Solar does not name panel, inverter or battery brands on the pages we read. Its solar page says its in-house installers and licensed electricians handle permitting, net metering, inspections, commissioning, system monitoring and warranty services. Your written proposal should list the exact panel and inverter models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Alaska Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?

Alaska Solar does not publish a service area list. Its projects page says it “powers homes and businesses across the state” and shows residential work in Anchorage, Eagle River, Palmer, Wasilla, Talkeetna and Fairbanks (read October 13, 2026). A project location does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Alaska Solar there.

Licenses

We found 1 active license record in state registries (October 13, 2026). Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

How we researched this profile

We read Alaska Solar’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, about and team, solar, projects and contact. We did not check its license in a state registry. On October 14, 2026 we also checked its Google Business listing, which shows the same Anchorage address; its own site was behind a bot check that day. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. Alaska Solar did not review this page.

Our installer methodology explains what we check.
