Homeland Solar Review
Solar installerBased in Ann Arbor, MichiganProfile updated October 14, 2026
Is Homeland Solar a good choice?
Homeland Solar fits Washtenaw County and southeast Michigan homeowners who want a small local installer with a long track record. It says it first installed in Ann Arbor in 2010 and passed 1,000 Michigan installations in 2024-2025. It points homeowners to Michigan Saves loans rather than leases. Its site publishes no warranty terms or license numbers, and some incentive pages are out of date. Ask for the warranty terms and license in writing.

Why choose Homeland Solar, and why you might not
What Homeland does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.
Reasons to choose Homeland
It is a local Ann Arbor companyHomeland serves Washtenaw County and southeast Michigan. It says it first put in solar in Ann Arbor in 2010, and has done more than 1,000 Michigan homes and buildings since.
Its Michigan license is activeHomeland’s Michigan license was active when we checked on October 13, 2026. It does not print the number on its site. Ask for it and check it yourself.
It points you to a nonprofit lenderHomeland suggests Michigan Saves, a nonprofit that lends through local credit unions. Of the three alternatives below, Michigan Solar Solutions also uses Michigan Saves. The lender sets the terms.
Reasons to look at others
It lists no warranty at allHomeland publishes no warranty on the panels, on its own work, or for leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. Wolf River lists 25 years on its own work and roof leaks. Get every warranty in writing.
It lists only loansIts site lists only a Michigan Saves loan or a home equity loan. It does not say if you can pay upfront, rent the panels or take a PPA. Ask which ways to pay it offers.
It names no equipment brandsHomeland names no panel or inverter brands. Its site also still shows some old rebate offers. Ask for the exact models and current terms in your written quote.
It has very few reviewsIts head-office Google listing shows 4.2 from only 5 reviews. One review describes a pushy, almost rude sales call. Ask who your contact will be and how often they will follow up.
Homeland Solar reviews: what customers say
Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.
- Google4.2 / 55 reviews · Ann Arbor, MI office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews
The two positive reviews below praise efficient work that handled the utility’s paperwork, and a system installed more than ten years ago whose inverter replacement and billing questions were handled well. The one negative review describes an aggressive, borderline rude sales call. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Homeland Solar who your contact will be and how often it plans to follow up.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (5 reviews read, back to Jan 27, 2025). We found no Trustpilot page for Homeland Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.
How much does Homeland Solar cost?
Homeland Solar does not publish a system price on the pages we reviewed. Ask for an itemized quote showing the cash price, system size, equipment models and, if you finance, the lender, financed total, APR and fees. Its Learn More page still describes an older federal tax credit schedule; the federal residential credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.
Michigan Saves loan
You own itHomeland recommends Michigan Saves, a nonprofit that lends through local credit unions. Terms come from the lender.
Home equity loan
You own itThrough your own lender; it requires a lien on your home.
Plans as listed for homeowners on Homeland’s financing page, read October 13, 2026. It says it does not make money on financing. PACE, USDA REAP grants and third-party PPAs are listed for commercial, farm and nonprofit customers, not homes. No residential lease or PPA is listed.
Homeland’s Learn More page says a typical system uses monocrystalline panels from Tier 1 suppliers, an optimizer at each panel, an inverter and racking, but names no brands. The same page is cautious about batteries for backup. Your written proposal should list the exact panel, optimizer, inverter and any battery models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Where does Homeland Solar operate, and which licenses were checked?
Homeland’s homepage says it is an Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County company that serves southeastern Michigan (read October 13, 2026). No other counties are listed. A listed area does not mean every address qualifies or that EcoGen can connect you with Homeland there.

Licenses
We found 1 active license record in state registries (October 13, 2026). Check the license yourself under the exact business name on your contract. A license check confirms registration, not workmanship quality.

How we researched this profile
We read Homeland Solar’s own pages on October 13, 2026: homepage, about, the company, team, residential, financing, Learn More, existing customers, quote and blog. We did not check licenses in a state registry. On October 14, 2026 we also checked its Google Business listing, which the company has claimed, for its street address; its own site was behind a bot check that day. We did not buy a system, request a quote, visit an office or interview customers. Homeland Solar did not review this page.
Our installer methodology explains what we check.
