Is Granite State Solar a good choice?

Granite State Solar fits New Hampshire homeowners who want a local installer that names its equipment and handles batteries and generators too. It says it was founded in 2008 and has an in-house service team. Its FAQ states a 12-year workmanship warranty that it says backs its roof penetrations. Financing is listed through one credit union only, so ask about other ways to pay.

Why choose Granite State Solar, and why you might not

What Granite State Solar does well, and where to be careful, compared with the installers it competes with most.

Reasons to choose Granite State Solar

  • Its warranty covers roof leaksGranite State covers its own work for 12 years. Its FAQ says that includes leaks where the panels are bolted to the roof. ReVision and Boston Solar also say they cover those leaks.

  • It names its equipmentIt names JA Solar and Hyundai panels and Enphase microinverters, the small boxes that turn solar power into home power. Catamount and ReVision name no panel brand. You can look them up before a sales visit.

  • It does batteries and generators tooGranite State also puts in batteries and generators. It names Enphase, Franklin and Tesla Powerwall batteries. It says it has its own service team.

  • Owners praise clear talk and clean crewsIts head-office Google listing shows 4.8 from 235 reviews. Its good reviews praise clear answers upfront, clean installers and help with the power company.

Reasons to look at others

  • It lists only one way to payGranite State lists one way to pay: a loan from EastRise Credit Union. It does not say if you can pay upfront, rent the panels or take a PPA (you pay for the power; the company owns the panels). Ask.

  • Some warranty repairs took monthsIts negative reviews describe warranty repairs that waited months, and emails with no answer. Ask how fast it books a warranty visit.

  • Some owners report surprise chargesNegative reviews describe an extra drilling charge and $2,000 more for financing. Get every charge in writing before you sign.

  • It shows no license numberGranite State does not print its New Hampshire license number. Its license was active when we checked on October 13, 2026. Ask for the number and keep it with your contract.

Granite State Solar reviews: what customers say

Each review site shows its own score; we read them on October 12 and 13, 2026 and do not combine them or add our own rating.

  • Google4.8 / 5235 reviews · Bow, NH office listing only, not company-wideRead reviews

The five positive reviews below praise upfront communication, clean installers, help with the utility, and defective panels replaced quickly. The five negative reviews describe tracker warranty repairs that waited months, an extra drilling charge the reviewer calls misrepresented, a monitoring system the utility refused because of wiring, a failed inspection plus $2,000 more for financing, and emails that went unanswered. These are issues to ask about, not a measure of how often they happen. Ask Granite State how quickly warranty visits are scheduled, and get every charge in writing.

How we picked these: the five newest 5-star and the five newest 1- or 2-star reviews with written text on Google and Trustpilot, as of October 2026 (200 reviews read, back to Apr 10, 2019). We found no Trustpilot page for Granite State Solar on October 12, 2026. Each quote is one sentence, word for word. Picking the highest and lowest ratings shows the range of experiences; it is not a representative sample, and we did not verify what reviewers describe.

How much does Granite State Solar cost?

Granite State Solar does not publish a price for your system on the pages we reviewed. Ask for an itemized quote with the cash price, system size, panel and inverter models and, for a loan, the credit union’s full terms. Its financing page says the EastRise loan can fund the full project cost. For state price ranges, see our solar panel cost guide; for how the plans compare, see loans, leases and PPAs.

Credit union loan

You own it

Through EastRise Credit Union. The company says there are no prepayment penalties and you join NESEA at no cost to qualify for membership.

Plans as listed on Granite State Solar’s financing page, read October 13, 2026. No cash, lease or PPA terms are listed.

Granite State Solar’s residential solar page lists JA Solar and Hyundai panels and Enphase microinverters. Its battery page lists the Enphase IQ Battery 10C, Franklin Home Power and Tesla Powerwall 3, and says it is a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer and Enphase Platinum Installer. Your written proposal should list the exact models, the system size in kilowatts (kW) and the forecast yearly production in kilowatt-hours (kWh). It installs roof and ground mounts.

Granite State Solar compared with three other installers

All eight alternatives share Granite State’s one state, New Hampshire. We chose these three because, like Granite State, each is a New England installer that lists a warranty on its own work. Every fact comes from the company profiles linked below.
