Maryland is embracing clean energy with its $3 million Community Solar LMI-PPA Grant Program for 2024, supported by the Strategic Energy Investment Fund (SEIF). This initiative is designed to empower low-to-moderate-income (LMI) communities by providing funding for community solar projects that offer clean energy subscriptions.

The previous year's program was a huge success, with 60 community solar projects incentivized, generating a total of 90,685 MWh of clean energy. Over 43,000 MWh of this clean energy was delivered to LMI households across Maryland.

Due to the overwhelming response last year, the Community Solar LMI-PPA Grant Program for 2024 is expected to be highly competitive. Applications were only open until February 29, 2024. We'll follow up on who was accepted!

Community solar has been part of Maryland's energy landscape since 2015 through the Community Solar Pilot Program. The recent passing of H.B. 908 in Maryland's 2023 legislative session ensures a permanent community solar program launching in January 2025.

This grant program promotes renewable energy and ensures energy equity for LMI communities. If you're passionate about clean energy and want to support Maryland's renewable goals, explore how you can participate in this exciting opportunity to access clean and affordable solar energy.
